All kids should have a great place to play. Find a playground that needs a good cleaning, and you and your friends can help make the area safer and more exciting for young kids.

Find Your Playground In Need of Repair

Scope out your playground and take pictures or write down what’s broken, peeling, or missing. Then, contact your local government or the private company that owns the playground area. Tell them you and some friends want to improve the space. Make sure they’re okay with your plan before starting anything!

Get Some Donations

Get your neighbors and local businesses to loan you some brushes, gardening gloves, buckets, and trash bags. Ask them to donate dish soap, sponges, bathroom cleaner, and paint.

Get To Work

Use your gloves and trash bags to pick up the garbage on the playground. If there are materials lying around that will harm kids, like nails or staples, safely dispose of those too. Next, fill your buckets with water and scrub dirt off the equipment with sponges and brushes. If certain structures need painting, get to work with your brushes and paint.

Liven up the Asphalt

Another innovative idea you can try is painting the asphalt in cool designs and games for the neighborhood kids.

Show What You’ve Done

Take pictures or write your improvements down. Show this progress to everyone who helped you, and thank them for taking part. Take it even further by scheduling an outing with a local pre-school for everyone to come see and enjoy their new and improved playground.
